That's what the "making it into crystals" bit is for, surely?I presume shezam meant recrystallisation by that, which would purify it nicely.

well I doubtthat unreacted caustic soda and hydrochloric acid would share the same space without a certain amount of obvious excitement in any case. Ether would evaporate. Don't know about the iodine. If you are smoking crystal meth you probably have more pressing problems anyway.
