Minimum age
I always thought the rule (for a gent) was half your age plus seven years. Never had a chance to test the upper limit though...

QI?
No need to worry! That's just the perfect age gap. :)
However, if you're a woman, it's in fact when she is 33 and the man is 15.

There is often a hypocrisy about the difference between men and women
An old man with a young girl is "living the dream", while Mrs Robinson is a cradle snatcher.
There is a logical reason for it though, if you look to our primitive past. A young man who pairs with an older woman is, to a certain extent, "wasting his seed on barren soil", while an older man can still impregnate a younger female.
In this day and age, this reasoning is no longer relevant. But thousands of years ago the survival of a tribal group relied on individuals to pull their weight, procreation wise. I believe that this is the source of many people's instinctive, subconscious, disdain for age-gap relations and in particular to those involving a young man with an older woman.
It's illogical today, but it stems from what was once, in our past, a logical reason.

that would be the reverse for women then?
ie subtract 7 then double the result ... so a 40 yr old bloke can go for any woman over 27 ... but a 40 yr old woman is looking at an upper limit of 66?
