It's called sleep paralysisen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis
Too much Stress and too much Alcohol/Drugs. Cut down one or all of these and it will go away. Essentially your body goes to sleep but your mind is still racing.

LOL - It happens a lot to doctors and nurseson account of the long shifts and harrowing work they do in Hospital training. It's often called 'Night-nurses' paralysis'
