This is a question Expensive Mistakes

coopsweb asks "What's the most expensive mistake you've ever made? Should I mention a certain employee who caused 4 hours worth of delays in Central London and got his company fined £500k?"

No points for stories about the time you had a few and thought it'd be a good idea to wrap your car around a bollard. Or replies consisting of "my wife".

TVR Cerbera
It was fantastic, souped up totally so it could be raced on a track. I bought it for just a little under 20,000. Fire came out the exhaust for god sake when you changed gear.

2nd Day I realise what a mistake I had made. 55 quid to fill the tank and wouldn't get me 100 miles.
In the first month had 4 new batteries in it, the security alarm had to be rewired and had to be picked up twice by tow truck whilst out and about.
Sold it back to the dealer I bought it from 3 months later for 3000 less (Total Barstool).

I loved/hated the car.

Bought a Subaru WRX for my next car, brand new though, I'd learned my leason.

TVR
I know a couple of chaps with TVRs and they both make my old Alfa Romeo 156 look like the absolutely paragon of reliability which it most definitely wasn't.

In fact, TVR must be the only car manufacturer who envies Alfa Romeo's reliability record.

Remember that when you buy an Aston the engine is developed from two Mondeo units spliced together and the electronics are manufactured in quantity to stringent quality controls by outside contractors - and they still get it wrong. TVR make everything in house and bespoke, from engines to door mechanisms and everything in between.

Should have bought a Griffith
Only £12 for a good one and they last a lot longer. Nicer to look at too, but that's just my opinion.

TVR
My jaw always literally drops when I actually see a TVR drive past and not strapped to a tow truck.

God, they are beautiful though. If money was no object, that'd be the second car I'd buy - after a carbon copy of Patrick McGoohan's car in the Prisoner.

Subaru
Had to get rid of the Subaru after having a family (and got fed up of people trying to Car jack me whilst at lights, specifically in Birmingham).
Better than the TT I had 6 years ago, my wife did get Car jacked in that.
