Expensive Mistakes
coopsweb asks "What's the most expensive mistake you've ever made? Should I mention a certain employee who caused 4 hours worth of delays in Central London and got his company fined £500k?"
No points for stories about the time you had a few and thought it'd be a good idea to wrap your car around a bollard. Or replies consisting of "my wife".

I started to take a perverse pride
in role-playing, but not paying anything for rules etc - only downloading free stuff.
It gives a similar 'collector's thrill', without the price.
For CCGs - I used to play VTES; I used proxies, and only bought cards indidivually when I'd thoroughly tested a deck. Much cheaper.

lottery win
I asked a 14 year-old what he'd spend a million quid on and he'd already worked out how many Warhammer figures he'd be able to buy. he even has a speech on how they are value for money because "they're so well made." Yeah, sure. 500,000 produced for about 20p in Taiwan every 30 seconds.

so true, so true
though I came home last night to find my housemates playing Heroquest...even after all these years I still loved playing with badly-painted miniatures :)
