... it's actually a member-state of the European Union.
The majority of laws are dictated by European Law, or friends of Mr Mandleson.
The taxation system is in line with European agreements.

And the benefits of membership of the EU are many. I love how anti-EU rhetoric always comes down to 'the Germans' running the economy.

From what I've experienced of Deutschland I like the place.
You decided to be clever and deliberately point out how England was still a country -- so I decided to "be clever" and point out how it isn't.
Europe or no Europe -- the arseholes in power have fucked this place up.

I meant the whole UK. Nice parochial viewpoint you have there.
And the last time I checked, both England and the UK were still countries. They have borders. They have sovereign Governments. They have laws, taxes and judicial systems.
It just so happens that we are a member of an ineffective trading bureaucracy.
And a majority of laws in the UK are not dictated by the EU.
