I tried giving Evans a go when Wogan left the Breaky show
I gave up after 2 weeks. Taking the format of your drive time show and transplanting to the morning slot does not work. Nor does adding phone calls from your listeners who invariably have fuck all to say as they go from (probably) reasonably sane and intelligent to inane, dribbling buffoons just because they're live on air.

His first mystery guest should have convinced me to turn off straight away. Fifty year old 'eccentrics' who punctuate every statement of what they've done with "I'm crazy, me! I'm mad, I am!" needs to be shoved on the first flight to Australia, driven to the desert and left to wait and see which venomous creature bites them first.

I just don't think the tone of his breaky show is right for Radio 2. Get rid of the annoying features and it might be OK. I did quite like his Radio 1 breaky show though. Maybe I'm getting old.

agreed, but I think he may have had his reins pulled in by the bods at the BBC as part of the deal to get the morning show.

Give him a little time - he takes to the radio like fish to water IMO, if he's allowed a little slack, he'll make something of it I'm sure.
