This is a question I'm your biggest Fan

Tell us about your heroes. No. Scratch that.

Tell us about the lengths you've gone to in order to show your devotion to your heroes. Just how big a fan are you?

and we've already heard the fan jokes, thankyou

Ashamed of Surrey
Maladicta's post on page 1 prompted me to post this. I have a confession to make.

I am a Final Fantasy fangirl.

It's all my first boyfriends' fault. I went round his house one day to see him playing FFVII on his PlayStation. I sat there for about half an hour before deciding "bugger this for a game of soldiers" and leaving. Leaving, in order to go down to the nearest Electronics Boutique to buy a PlayStation and copy of VII for myself, since the selfish bastard wouldn't let me have a go.

Since then, I've become Squareenix's bitch, and a lost cause in the process. I've collected the entire catalogue, with the exception of XI which was the online PC one, as my bank manager would no doubt draw the line at another MMORPG. I've completed them all, as well. Many, more than once.

I've raided Forbidden Planet to collect the Square Arts action figures. I'm only missing the Advent Children version of Tifa. This fact drives me nuts.

I imported a rare plushie Gold Chocobo from Japan, which has pride of place in one of my rooms.

I bought the jewellery sets (Tidus' ring, minature sword etc).

I have doujinshi featuring my favourite characters (mainly Vincent from VII as I'm a sucker for the moody bad boy type).

A Christmas or two ago, my boyfriend bought me a cosplay outfit of Lulu from FFX. I've worn it.

The clincher came when XII was released. There was a big launch party at HMV on Oxford Street, the game designers were going to be there, there was a cosplay competition, free goodies, the works. As I work a stone's throw from the store, I was, what can only be termed as "over the moon, Brian". I had my costume, it would be fan-fucking-tastic. Except that my company got me a late deal and booked me on a training course. On the day of the launch. Fucksticks.

I couldn't get out of it, and ended up missing the bash. I was distraught. But cheered up when Mr Kitimariana came over with a signed copy of the game, special release soundtracks and postcards, as well as numerous photographs. In spite of not being int the thing like I am, he braved the crowds to get me as much as he could. Bless.

One last tale of slavish fangirldom. I was sitting on a bus minding my own business, when I suddenly notice that the guy sitting next to me fiddling with his PSP is playing VII on it. He's doing OK - going through the Cosmo Canyon part, coming up to the boss in the Gi caves. I'm watching over his shoulder you see, desperately trying to seem like I'm not. It's hopeless. I lean over and point out that he'd have a much easier time with the boss fight if he used a Megalixir, and has he thought about arranging his Materia in THIS way as opposed to THAT way?

I'm sure he thought I was a bit demented. He may well have been onto something.

Jesus,
that brings back memories of being layed up with a broken foot a few years back...

Was down at Camden Lock Market this weekend, they've got an ace stall there that sells just about EVERYTHING FF related; just walk a bit further down from the foodie area and its on the right.

I thank you for the heads up...
...Even if my aforementioned bank manager will not. :D

For what it's worth
There's a bit of stuff in that anime store upstairs in the Trocadero that might be of interest too. (But cheers Spanky from me too, I somehow never clocked that place in all the times I've been there.)

I'm a big Final Fantasy fan too, but not to that level. Only to the point where I have a fair pile of memorabilia (all FF8/9, what with them being my favourites) and I can't bring myself to finish any of the games 'cos I always get to a point where it's fun to wander the world. Also, I might've once suggested that the main group from Final Fantasy 8 would be my best friends if they were real. I'll let you decide how sad that is.

No more sad than...
...All the fan art I've drawn over the years. Not weirdy tentacle-rape type fan art I hasten to add, just... well, pictures, really. They're good characters to practice on. :)

Advent Children version of Tifa?
I'm fairly certain that the Gamestation near my work is selling it. I could be mistaken though...

Fabulous
I too am a Vincent fangirl, and proud of it. Despite my rather small collection of PAs I still think mine is pretty awesome.
You know why?
Because my Vincent can sit down.

:D
Woo + indeed yay. :) You just can't beat a poseable Vincent. Unless there's two. Hmmm.

My prize collectors item had to be the foot and a half cold cast Vincent statue that I found. It had absolute pride of place on my bookshelf. And then my sodding cat decided to jump up where he had never jumped in 7 years, and broke it.

Yay FF~
I'm a Final Fantasy fangirl, and I can only wish I had the stuff you do. That said I'm looking across at a Yuna wallscroll, and if I could be bothered to sit up straighter, I'd see the collection of figurines in my window sill. I recently started playing through the games again out of boredom, starting with FFVII, which just brings back so many wonderful memories of my first trip into the wonderful world of FF.

I saw the AC: Tifa figurine at a con recently, and it's gorgeous. I just wish I were richer so I could have bought it.

Actually...
Play.com occasionally do great deals on the statues and sculptures. I managed to get the Cloud / Sephiroth Advent Children pair for £35 each, as opposed to the £180 or so quid a pop that they normally charge. eBay also do a few nifty little auctions, though you're generally importing from Japan there.

Christ, every reply makes me realise that I've got more things I didn't declare to start with. I too have wall scrolls - Cloud and Sephiroth ones. And I have the soundtrack CDs to everything from VII onwards. Plus Mr Uematsu's albums with The Black Mages (which I can highly recommend).
