My mate Richard liked this one too.
After he failed to return from "Just popping out to get some cash" I located him in casualty. When he temporarily regained consciousness (he'd had a stroke) he lined 'em up and I knocked 'em down.
"you're in hospital"
"In Hospital, what is it?"
"Its a big building with lots of doctors but that's not important right now"
Sadly, though he was back on his feet the next year, the cancer did for him in the end and he died the same day as Pavorotti which would have amused him as he was a tenor too.
