Possibly invented.
Some years ago, I did a bit of roadying for the Happy Mondays when they were at the height of their powers. It was all go; food and board laid on, hard work but all the drugs and groupies you could eat.
One which night sticks in my mind was when the boys were playing in LA and Bez didn't seem to want to go on. Recognising that his gurning maraca-playing antics were the best bit of any Mondays show, this was potentially catastrophic. Several people went up to his room to try and talk him down but the word came down the chain: Bez was utterly, utterly fucked out of his tree on something and looking to start a fight. Some snickered that could only improve things, bit it didn't ring true with me so I went up to check it out.
True enough, Bez was up in his room and he'd trashed the place. He was red and sweating and shouting - basically saying that he was tough and he'd fight anything. I could tell instantly that something was wrong and it wasn't what everyone thought.

"Hold up", I said. "Get an ambulance; he's showing the symptoms of Lyme disease."
An ambulance was duly called and he was checked in; diagnostics showed that the flushed sweating and agreesion were indeed the characteristic symptoms of Lyme disease and he was treated.
A few days later Bez came to see me. "Mate", he said. "I reckon you saved me life, like." Before I could react he'd grabbed me and kissed me, hard. "Muh". He went. "Muh muh muh."

And that's the story of my Bez-tough-ill-muhs.

Is that right, or do the crap puns start later in the week?
