This is a question Things we do to fit in

"When I was fifteen," writes No3L, "I curled up in a Budgens trolley while someone pushed it through the supermarket doors to nick vodka and Benny Hedgehogs, just to hang out with my brother and his mates."

What have you done to fit in?

I regularly post on message boards...
Invariably opening with "as many of you already know about me" before making up an entirely fictional story which concludes with a self-diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome.

No self-diagnosis necessary
I have a real diagnosis.

Ditto. Which is why I'm never really sure if people are taking the proverbial, when they talk about 'self-diagnosis'.

After all, having concerns about your own health is how most medical problems begin treatment, isn't it?

Most people are, for instance, fairly good about 'self-diagnosing' a major MI. This invariably leads to them getting immediate assitance.

But when it comes to service provision for Adults with ASD, it can be Poor At Best.

And how does that old proverb go? "The first step to dealing with a problem, is admitting you have one".

edit: I should add, that whatever the intent; I'm not offended. Just uncertain.

Glad to see it's all been taken in good humour
For the record, no offence intended to any Asperger's sufferers - just a cheeky dig in the ribs to the kind of people who might make up the fact that they've got it, in an attempt to fit in with the B3ta board. See? Topical.

But you knew that already.
