Walkman Flashbacks
There you are innocently going about your day when suddenly a particular song transports you back to a specific time and place.
For me, Animotion's Obssession instantly brings back the fear and nerves of school exams. And you? Tell us all about it.

Best. QOTW. Ever.
God, there was me thinking it was just me who had vivid memories with songs! Thank you b3ta!
Ive got loads, some of which are very specific for me:
Huey Lewis and The News - Hip To Be Square (thank you mr_wicksy) - I was very young, and saw this on Sesame Street. Mightve been the video - there were lots of shapes playing in a playground. I then heard this on the way to my grandads, in the lanes of Cornwall.
Celine Dion (any song) - again, reminds me of driving to my grandads, but this more so of a curve in the road going right, then left, with windmills on the right hand side. My mum loves Celine Dion, and the tapes were always playing.
All Saints - Pure Shores - the first time I went to France, it was with school. We went to a motor museum, and as part of the trip was art-based we were tasked with drawing the cars. I had my walkman, and popped in a tape - new hits 2000 or something - on which this song resided. I stayed away from my group, and happily sketched away while listening and walking for the first time with a walkman.
Smurfs Go Pop - this album was, shamefully, the first I bought. I remember picking it off the shelf in East Grinstead's Woolworths, and buying it. In vivid detail.
Kula Shaker - Mystical Machine Gun - the first Kula track I heard, it was on the second CD of new hits 99. I played that CD over and over again while traversing Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. It was the level with the oil tank you have to change the levels of. That CD reminds me of that game, this song and another (Busta Rhymes - Gimme Some More) in particular.
Travis - Love Will Come Through - one of my favourite songs of all time. I first heard it about 2 years before it was released on 12 Memories, when it was announced as part of the soundtrack to Moonlight Mile. Ive still got an old mp3, which sounds a fair bit different to the final mix. It reminds me of an ex girlfriend, my first real love, as it became our song. I remember playing it to her and telling her it should be ours.
Doves - Pounding - I loved this song, its got a great tune. I was dating a girl when I heard it, it was going very well until I foolishly told her I loved her. In between that and her leaving me a week later, I had heard this and was intent on playing it to her. I was also planning on seeing A Walk To Remember with her, which is a great film, so this song reminds me of that too.
Build Me Up Buttercup - this song became a sort of anthem for my year, and at our year 11 final assembly 2 years ago I was delighted to see it projected on the wall ready for us to sing along to. And we did. All of us. It was the most beautiful thing, surrounded by friends for one of the last times, singing to a golden oldie.
Dizzee Rascal - Fix Up Look Sharp - I went to Paris with my art buddies on a school trip last july. It was a fantastic few days, and one of the guys I shared my room with was called Nick Sharp. He didnt do art, but had come anyway, so was a bit of an outsider. Being the guy he is though, he ingratiated himself with the group, not least because of the moleste number of times "Fix Up Nick Shaaaarp" was bellowed over the course of the trip!
Some song from Kill Bill (havent heard the full thing) - not a proper one, as Ive not heard it... Theres a song which involves "OO OOH, OO OO OOH, OO OOH, OO OO OOH". What a great description. This became another anthem of the Paris trip, most notably being sung (if thats what you call it) very loudly by dozens of teenage Brits at 11pm in the streets of Paris, near the Moulin Rouge. Classy.
Black Eyed Peas - Where Is The Love? - I fucking HATE this song. Its a steamy, wet turd of a song. So, Im in the middle of losing my virginity, with Radio 1 on, and what decides to grace the airwaves? That song. Cunts. One of the most memorable times of my life, and thats the fucking soundtrack.
These arent in order, by the way.
And finally? One song stuck out, that Id not heard of before, during reading the answers to this. Kent - Kevlar Soul, which Ive now downloaded and have had on repeat. Its beautiful. Thank you moik!
Apologise for length? Psh. You dont deserve an apology, you dirty biatches.
EDIT: Oh yeah, just remembered a couple more (i bet youre sick of reading this now!):
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome to the Pleasuredome - reminds me of days when i was little, taking an ill day off school. Dad had this album on vinyl, and I put it on the stereo while playing with lego. Another album that reminds me of this is Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds, which I first heard in pretty much the same situation.
