doley sponging bastardsI've been on the dole. Twice. And I saw that the people who work there couldn't give a shit whether I found a job at all. They would have been happy to let me claim forever. They didn't even bother to check whether I'd been looking for work.
True, the money kept me afloat during difficult times, but in both cases I was able to find a job within a couple of months - and I was looking for the kinds of jobs that don't come along very often (especially when you've got no experience on your CV).
Seems to me that if you're able-bodied and at least attended school for a few years, there's no reason to be on the dole for years unless you're a lazy, sponging bastard. I took jobs that were far below me (and which paid subsistence wages) to get experience. And in three years I've doubled my salary. I believe anyone can do that, whether it's in carpentry or retail.
