Actually
statistically British people have the best teeth in the world. Its just that we're more concerned with healthy teeth and gums rather than cosmetic shit that doesn't actually aid the health of teeth at all. Google it.

However
the stats hide huge inequalities, and lots of us find it almost impossible to find a dentist who'll take NHS patients.

Though I agree with your sentiments about healthy teeth being more important than perfectly straight, pearly-white ones. I actually find "perfect" nashers rather creepy.

I'm glad it's not just me...
...that is disturbed by gleaming, obviously bleached white perfectly aligned teeth.
I got a new dentist a while back who immediatley started to try and sell me teeth whitening (they only need a scale and polish once or twice a year thanks to a love of black tea)to which I replied "good god no why would I want that?" I think this has been a fairly common reaction as I haven't noticed an increase in dazzling smiles round here.
I already half blind people with the whiteness of my skin I see no reason to finish the job just by smiling at them.

A famous scientist brainy type person told me once
that believing the internet was the equivalent of believing the scribble on the pub toilet wall.
Anyway, I get all my facts from reliable sources like the Simpsons, and we all know about the big book of British smiles!
