'Before' the big bangMy understanding is that 'time' is a result of the existence of space, and so answers to questions like 'before the big bang/beginning of the universe' are meaningless to the human mind as we are incapable of understanding a frame of reference in which time does not exist.
From a religious POV, this philosophical point was actually tackled by Augustine over 1500 years ago. Do keep up.
