You had me hooked by the first few lines.
The Gospel of Mark facts are all you really need to punch a neat hole through any religious argument.
I can't see how anyone could deny that the Bible was written around how people perceived things at the time, and that much of what's written is no longer relevant. The number of silly rules like enslaving your neighbours or selling your daughter, etc., clearly show this.
Adding the obvious plot holes and misinterpretations, additional text to suit the current monk/king/church, and you've something that really should be taken with a very large pinch of salt.
It's when you point this out that the God botherers start talking about "interpretation" and not taking it literally (unless they want to persecute someone, that is).
