i've had a fairly broad spectrum
and i'm slightly inclined to agree, they most definitely try harder but sometimes it's still not enough!

Maybe your standards are too high

but there has been a couple that I've literally had to close my eyes on and think of someone else. In my defence I was pissed on both occasions. But high standards? Possibly, but I've never had too long a dry spell so until I do I'll just carry on.
