Poles are a tough lot.My grandfather used to eat raw eggs and raw bacon and if the bread went mouldy then "that's just penecillin". Apparently he once used soap powder instead of salt in his soup*, and he liked a lot of salt, but finished the bowl anyhow.
*I don't recall if my grandmother filled the salt pot from the wrong bag or he used salt out of a bag.

My grandfather once cut a loaf up on a bandsaw at workbefore realising that all the oil had come off the blade and soaked in. He still ate it.
