Also my lights.........in my house all have to switched the same way. I have a light at the bottom of the stairs which can be turned on and off at both a double switch at the top and one at the bottom, these all have to be swicthed the same way even if it means tripping up and down the stairs in the dark.

ha hain my house there is a switch which can't ever be the same way as the one at the top of the stairs.
This annoys me greatly.

Yep!Agreed. I don't actually do anything about it, but I definitely take note of which switch is in which position...
