Have you seen the film "Paranormal Activity"
a young couple set up a camera to film them sleeping because the girl is being harassed by an irate demon, AND THEY DON'T SHUT THE SODDING BEDROOM DOOR!

if you close the door, you trap yourself in the room with the wardrobe monster! This is why i sleep on the side of the bed furthest from the wardrobe/door. Hubbie is my human shield.

In my own house I sleep with the bedroom door open
So that any burglars downstairs will wake me up and I can get all Tony Martin on their asses.

But when I stay at my mum's in the room I had as a teenager (though they've completely redecorated it so it's not "my" room any more) I have to sleep with the door closed. Probably a handover from not wanting to get caught wanking, or something.

close all the doors before bed
safer if there's a fire, and monsters can't use door handles, so once you close the door and check under the bed and the closet, all good.
