Adding up car numberplates
I get a nice feeling of satisfaction when the last three numbers on a (UK) car numberplate can be made into some kind of sum.
I've been doing this for years and I don't see it stopping any time soon...

well alright it'll end eventually

I did something similar when learning to fly, say the phonetic letters of the license plates in front so when talking to the tower it would be automatic.
Still do it and I've been flying for over 10 years now.

Erm, guilty your honour.
We have up six digits on our plates and since I was a wee nipper have done a bit of a Countdown thing trying to manipulate all of the numbers to sum to the largest on the plate using any mathematical function necessary.
