Hitchhiking and fare dodging
Epic tales of the thumb, the open road and getting robbed by hairy-arsed truck drivers. Alternatively, travelling for free like a dreadful fare-jumping cheat. Confess.

A buddy of mine was telling me
that his brother in law was hitching, one day, when a guy picked him up and drove along asking him really strange questions. after about ten minutes, the driver suddenly pulled over and told him to get out and then drove away leaving him puzzled at the roadside. A few months later, he sees the news report, when Ivan was arrested, and recognises him as the driver. He went to the cops and made a statement. In doing so, the cops asked about the conversation and the questions he was asking. They come to the conclusion that Ivan was trying to figure out how long it would take for him to be missed and decided that he wouldn't have enough time to 'do the job' properly.
I like to think that he went home, from the police station, and got very pissed. It's what I would have done.

I was hitching around Australia at that time.
I got picked up by a weird fat woman. She started telling me about the relationship she was in and the sex she had just had as soon as I got in her car. Then she pulled out a joint of some of the strongest weed I have ever smoked and we got very stoned. When we drove through the Belanglo forest, she started going on about the bodies. I got very paranoid and sat for about an hour thinking she was going to kill me. She didn't.
