This is a question Hypocrisy

Overheard the other day: "I've told you before - stop swearing in front of the kids, for fuck's sake." Your tales of double standards please.

My boss
There's such a wealth of examples of hypocrisy on her part that I'm struggling to keep this short.

There was the day I got a frantic phone call from her when she'd gone to a client meeting:

'Mr X. wants such-and-such a piece of work in the next hour - can you get on it Snowy?'.
Me 'Yeah, but AN HOUR! I can't guarantee it can be done...'.
Her: 'That's not the attitude, this is really important and we just have to prioritise to turn stuff like this round on time!'
Me: 'OK, I'll do what I can, but why's it so urgent anyway?'
Her: 'Well. He actually did ask me for it last week, but I forgot...'

Then there was the time we had a fairly heated argument and she accused me of being emotional:

'You shouldn't bring emotion into work situations'
Me: 'Look - I really, really try not to, but I just find our working relationship so difficult at times'

...and she burst into tears. Who's the emotional one now, eh?

She also regularly tells me I need to delegate more responsibility to others so I can focus on my core responsibilities, seeing no contradiction with all the times she's overriden my instructions to members of my team by telling them to stop working on the stuff I've given them to do, and instead to draft emails for her/go and fetch her lunch/go to a meeting she's put in her diary but can no longer be bothered attending...

Grrrrrrrrrrr......

I know exactly where you're coming from, being a graduate coming into a private firm.

Me and the Business Development Manager (prefers the term 'BDM') were discussing via e-mail my draft of a client delivery note. One of the headings (in a box in excel) had a light grey background - fair enough. My 'BDM' demanded it get changed into a kind of check criss-cross background, which I said, in my opinion interfers with the text but obviously she has the final say.

She exploded into an email rant about how my opinion is irrelevant and the priority is the needs of the customer. She copied in the bloody Managing Director and I got a blasting!

I would've quit there and then if I wasn't skint, but alas I needed the money.

Yep
Biting your tongue is the hardest part.

In my case, her boss realises she's a hypocrite at least so I can get away with venting my spleen every now-and-then.
