This is a question Hypocrisy

Overheard the other day: "I've told you before - stop swearing in front of the kids, for fuck's sake." Your tales of double standards please.

yeah
but that would just be using clever statistics to cover up the fact you haven't got any data ;)

not that I've ever successfully generated a straight line by replotting data on a logarithmic/probability axis. Or got it published. Several times. Oh no. That would be very wrong.

don't worry
I won't tell anyone. I mean, it's surely not the reason why my last journal paper has had a total of one citation in a whole year.

cyclic citations are the way forward.
enter into citing deals with your academic friends. Or, in my case, write fairly high-profile reviews and cite yourself ;)

It's all just one giant circle jerk/cluster fuck/daisy chain*

One of my papers
has been cited 82 times, purely on the basis that it contains the most comprehensive literature survey on the topic so everyone just says "see CHCB et al.". No one has remarked on the glaring errors in it, probably because they're just relieved they didn't have to write it themselves.

Ah, that's good work, right there.
