Monty Boyce asks: Have you ever had a real-life meet with somebody you first knew from the internet? How did it go? How long until the Asbo expires?

I used to be in a quiz chat room on AOL
and the same scenario was true there, lots of bored or disaffected housewives looking for a soul mate in between using their brain that didn't get exercised during the day looking after kids and doing housework. Inevitably there would be hook-ups between some people, ranging from one-off dirty weekends to completely acrimonious divorces, and yet these weren't people who set out to look around for a bit on the side, but a bit of compassion and understanding and listening does make you look a much better bet than their inattentive dull angry violent sarcastic 'better halves'.

AOL was a mine field too.
It seemed that in the early/mid 90s bored housewives used the internet to find a soul mate or quick diddle.

Now the internet is very diverse with multiple websites dedicated to everything from casual sex to places like e-harmony so the field is spread thin. When I met the last woman it was about 4 years before I admitted to someone that we met through the internet, now it's common place. Back then it was something that only sad lonely people did because they didn't have the skill to speak to people in bars.

In those days "hiding" behind a keyboard I found an awfull lot of women who wore their hearts on their sleeves. (which I was a little guilty of from time to time).
