I seem to recall
that in H.G. Wells' The War Of The Worlds, the Parson was running about, "ejaculating furiously". This, our teacher explained to our sniggering class, was referring to him waving his fists in the air etc.

So if they were running around waving their hands in the air, they may very well have been ejaculating all over!
