Swimming the channel...Back in secondary school I had a rather rotund History teacher who claimed to have swam the channel. Judging from his size, it was more likely that he floated across so no-one believed him...
until the day he brought in the newspaper cuttings which documented the aforementioned event. Turns out he wasn't always that large.
