Not quiteWhenever anyone starts a sentence with "I'm not being funny but..." you can guarantee that whatever they're going to say won't be funny, in fact it will most likely be annoying and ill-informed

Got to admit I'm guilty of using that phrase myself.I've usually used it to try and make the objection that followed it sound slightly less unreasonable.
"Not being funny here, but the deadline for submitting Product A to Customer Z was two weeks ago. Why are we still having hour-long debates about what tip-ins should go into it?"
