Here's the former colony of Canadawe have the "4 way stop"
This is simply a junction in need of a roundabout because it runs on the principle of - first to arrive has the right to enter the junction first.
In theory this is fine, but Canadians are too polite to make use of a system based around such vagueness.
I'm sure somewhere there are people who have died of old age muttering, "no, you first" under their breath.
