In my previous life as an engineer for a certain UK telco, I attended a fault on a (very old) E1 link to a mobile phone base station. Diagnosis involved lengthy discussion on my mobile with our control centre - the conversation was something like this:

"Power cycle it? OK, I'm switching it off now. Did you see the link go down? Hello?... Hello?... Bugger."

Reminds me of a couple bank branches...
I work for [large international it services company] and manage faults on [multiple large bank]'s networks.

Sometimes I need to call a branch for hands and eyes checks on equipment onsite.

It's always amusing to have them kill the router when you're halfway through telling them what to do.... especially when they use voip :x







....Fuck me, this is why I don't talk about work with friends, I'd bore the shit out of most of them.
