Brightening up dinnerA professor of mine once told me of one of his favorite childhood pranks. He had gotten some magnesium ribbon, so he took the candles off of his parents' dining room table, used a hot knife to slice them open, laid the magnesium alongside the wick, closed the candles up again and put them back.
Halfway through dinner the room suddenly got very bright...
