My dog died last week, and I'm already sick of people sending me that stupid Rainbow Bridge poem. Tell us about excellent (or rubbish) pets

GERBILS
We nagged my Mum for ages, and she finally bought us two male gerbils. We had a little house in their cage, and all was well.
Until one of them fell pregnant.
It gave birth to a litter of seven, crammed them all into the tiny house, crushed them to death, and then ate them.
That was nice.

We took in 3 'male' Gerbils from a friend. They also turned into 10 Gerbils! We had them in an old fish tank half full of damp compost. Was great watching them dig tunnels etc.
I did make a mistake of attaching the large water bottle to the side of the tank with tape though. One of them chewed through it and it fell on him. We found a slightly U-shaped, very dead Gerbil the next morning.

had hetrogerbil couple too.
once every few months when the next wave of little ones grew old enough i would take 'em to nearby field and release into the wild.
it went on like that for over a year, maybe more. sometimes i would imagine a small gerbil colony living there, waiting for more newcomers..
had mice too (same story). and a rat. in the end they all died 'cos i sucked at being responsible :(
