This is a question How nerdy are you?

This week Gary Gygax, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons, died. A whole generation of pasty dice-obsessed nerds owes him big time. Me included.

So, in his honour, how nerdy were you? Are you still sunlight-averse? What are the sad little things you do that nobody else understands?

As an example, a B3ta regular who shall remain nameless told us, "I spent an entire school summer holiday getting my BBC Model B computer to produce filthy stories from an extensive database of names, nouns, adjectives, stock phrases and deviant sexual practices. It revolutionised the porn magazine dirty letter writing industry for ever.

Revel in your own nerdiness.

I still have the same PC I had in 1994
It's had 6 new motherboards
7 new processors
3 new cases
6 new graphics cards
many new hard drives
2 new sound cards
4 new monitors
2 new keyboards
4 new mice

I think it may have a couple of the original screws left in it, but I may be wrong.

I still _use_ the same PC I had in 1999
... same cpus, motherboard, case, keyboard.

A 2x550Mhz, it's fast enough to record one TV program while playing another; so why change it?

Same goes for me...

I call my PC 'Trigger's Broom' after the old '15 handles and 19 heads' crap gag from Only Fools and Horses.

Still got my Lappy from 1988.
Well, it was orginally my Dads. Never upgraded it (well, not in 19 years. it's got an 80387 co-processor and a whopping 4096kb RAM now), still works okay for word processing, PIC programming, etc!

The funny thing is it's still the most reliable, bulletproof computer out of the 11 or so in the house!

Do you...
...have a medal from the council though?

My Trigger's Broom (yes, I do it too) is officially called "Priscilla".
Because, when I got her, she was big and silver.

The fact that she's now matt black and angular with various non-clour-coordinated drives means people don't get it any more.

Ah well. She was a 486 when we met and yesterday I discovered she ran STALKER shadow of chernobyl smooth as silk. (ace game, by the way).
