This is a question Old stuff I still know

Our Ginger Fuhrer says that he could still code up a simple game idea in Amstrad Basic, while I'm your man if you ever need to rebuild the suspension on an Austin Allegro (1750 Equipe version). This stuff doesn't leave your mind - tell us about obsolete talents you still have.

I am an expert
at minutely altering the volume on a tape recorder, having spent many an evening trying to load Operation Wolf on the Amstrad CPC.

Seriously, I could crack safes.

Ah, the old azimuth screw
I was a Speccy 48k boy myself. You're right, it's a skill.

The worst thing was when you thought you finally had it. The game would load for 20 minutes before displaying the dreaded 'R Tape Loading Error'

"Read Error B" on the Amstrad.

I used to have all sorts of superstitions that actually worked - if you looked at the screen during the loading process... "Read Error B". If you load the game and lie on the floor until you can hear the game music - win.

I had something similarly crazy
That involved staring at the counter on the tape deck and not looking at the screen. Again, it worked!
