The worst thing was when you thought you finally had it. The game would load for 20 minutes before displaying the dreaded 'R Tape Loading Error'

"Read Error B" on the Amstrad.
I used to have all sorts of superstitions that actually worked - if you looked at the screen during the loading process... "Read Error B". If you load the game and lie on the floor until you can hear the game music - win.

I had something similarly crazyThat involved staring at the counter on the tape deck and not looking at the screen. Again, it worked!
