This is a question Old stuff I still know

Our Ginger Fuhrer says that he could still code up a simple game idea in Amstrad Basic, while I'm your man if you ever need to rebuild the suspension on an Austin Allegro (1750 Equipe version). This stuff doesn't leave your mind - tell us about obsolete talents you still have.

I still fix stuff
When things break in my household I try to fix them. I'm not always successful but I try.

I have repaired toasters, guitar pick ups, digital cameras, lamps, tents, printers, blenders, computers, bikes, record players and much more. I hate just wasting stuff, so before chucking anything I'll dismantle it, try to find the problem and re-assemble it. Or I'll look around to try and find spare parts.
It doesn't always work and I am occasionally out of my depth - my most daft attempt was with a colour photocopier my friend was chucking out... Me and my son had fun taking it apart though after I gave up on it. We ended up covered in technicolour toner and machine oil.

that wasn't machine oil, that was probably fuser oil with around 20% non-mercapto silicone oil.
now that is something I have no need to know.

nice one
It was too. I just couldn't remember what the bloody stuff was called.

I might have been able to get it going (at least that's what I tell myself) but for the fact that when my mate bought it over we didn't see the fuser oil bottle and it went all over the machine's insides...
