Necessary for farmers and people who want to off-road in theman infuriating cuntitude for people who have big shiny ones in the middle of cities which have clearly never seen mud in their lives. That said, I experienced a moment of croissant-magnitude smuggery yesterday when I drove to the top of the (very icy) massive hill I live on without any bother, and there were several 4x4s really struggling who eventually turned round.
