I've not seen them live
I think they're reforming.

YAY!

(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:46, Reply)
She married my favourite author about a month ago
I'm so happy for them.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:48, Reply)
Neil Gaiman?

(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:49, Reply)
bingo

(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:49, Reply)
My sister is a huge fan of them both
I'm not so keen on Neil Gaiman but from the links I'm quite liking Amanda Palmer
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:52, Reply)
I quite like her Who Killed Amanda Palmer album
I find Gaiman a bit hit and miss, though American Gods is his best work imho.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:58, Reply)
Yes.
I wasn't enthralled by Neverwhere, but I do love his short stories.

But American Gods shits on absolutely everything ever. My copy's fallen apart :(
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:01, Reply)
Oh no, really?
I LOVE Neverwhere. American Gods and/or Sandman are definitely his best works though.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:02, Reply)
It's in the trunk.
IT'S IN THE FUCKING TRUNK YOU FUCKING BASTARD OH MY GOD WHAT THE HELL
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:04, Reply)
Neverwhere was interesting, but a bit formulaic
It was one of his first though. I'm about halfway through a collection of his short stories, must finish it.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:02, Reply)
Smoke and Mirrors, or Fragile Things?
I think it's Fragile Things that has the kick-ass HP Lovecraft/Sherlock Holmes crossover, but Smoke and Mirrors that has an American tourist ending up in Innsmouth and getting hammered on Shoggoth's Old Peculiar.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:04, Reply)
Smoke and Mirrors
I have read then
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:07, Reply)
Fragile Things
Though I think I also have Smoke and Mirrors. I did like the Lovecraft/Holmes crossover, very clever!
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:07, Reply)
I didn't know enough about Holmes to realise it was
SPOILERS SPOILERS BE SPOILERS HEREwhatsit and moriaty instead of watson and holmesSPOILERS END

Blew my mind when I found that out.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:10, Reply)
Aye, got me too, very well written!

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:13, Reply)
So I think your's has the American Gods follow-up novella
which if you know your Norse pantheon, you should realise after reading that Shadow should stay the fuck away from mistletoe.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:14, Reply)
It does, but I haven't got to it yet
I'm a bit shaky on my Norse pantheon, but I'll do some wiki-ing before starting it so that i'm refreshed.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:15, Reply)
You find out Shadow's first name.
Put that into Wiki when you're done. I think the Norns say something about mistletoe while he's on the tree, though, so it's just explicitly saying something that if you're Genre Savvy you'll have worked out. A bit like the Mr Wednesday thing.

I kicked myself for about 10 minutes over the Low Key thing...
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:18, Reply)
I twigged the Wednesday and Low Key thing fairly early on
Though forgot about the latter because he's not mentioned (that I recall) for a large chunk of the book.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:19, Reply)
yeah mistletoe
never a good idea
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:21, Reply)
I agree
I didn't get a single kiss this Christmas.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:24, Reply)
sad times
nor did I. Which is lucky considering I spent it with family. I'm not Bert
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:25, Reply)
I went out loads
Nothing. Nada. Rien.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:25, Reply)
fingers crossed for 2011 then

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:26, Reply)
*crosses everything*

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:27, Reply)
Me neither
that said, I didn't go out at all, and I'd rather kiss my own ringpiece than kiss my stepbrother.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:28, Reply)
That would require epic levels of flexibility

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:29, Reply)
If it meant not kissing my brother
I'd probably give it a damn good go. Besides, I do yoga and stuff, I can get my ankles behind my head (mostly)
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:31, Reply)
Impressive!
I could once, used to be able to do the splits, but now that'd result in permanent damage.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:35, Reply)
I don't think I've ever been able to do that
just thinking about it makes me ache.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:37, Reply)
Is it you who reads a lot of comics?

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:01, Reply)
I do, but there are others too

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:02, Reply)
Just trying to think of a comic
that had similarities in common with 'Lucifer' by Neil Gaiman but more of a focus on old Norse gods, and with Lucifer having bright orange hair. Definitely something about Michael being freed from a prison of some kind
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:06, Reply)
Loki
that's in Sandman isn't it? He's bound in the centre of the earth with a snake dripping poison in his face.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:08, Reply)
Bound with the entrails of his own son.
Sad times :(
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:09, Reply)
That's the bunny
I knew it was something of his sons, I thought tongues but knew it was wrong. Entrails are really the only thing long enough to tie someone down with *belms*
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:12, Reply)
I used to love Norse Mythology
Always liked Loki. He may have had 3 monstrous children, but he seemed decent enough. I don't like how he was bezzies with the Gods then they fell out :(
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:13, Reply)
To be fair
all the Norse Gods were bastards
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:15, Reply)
Dressing Thor up as Freya was a dick move.
But kind of really, really awesome.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:17, Reply)
Haha I used to know
so much Norse mythology as a child (along with Greek and Egyptian)
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:21, Reply)
I did think Loki, what with being a ginger and the Norse Gods.

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:10, Reply)
Nope it was definitely
Michael the archangel (or possibly Gabriel) being released. He acted as a sort of malfunctioning deus ex machina
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:11, Reply)
Ooo I don't know that one :/
I do have one called The Chronicles of Wormwood, about the antichrist shirking his responsibilities to bring on Armageddon.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:09, Reply)
I love all the songs on this, apart from Truce and Slide (672 doesn't count as a song)
open.spotify.com/album/3BMhZk7YVMQBh0Y4DuyNSt

Listening to The Perfect Fit.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:00, Reply)
It is a great album
Bad Habit and Girl Anachronism are awesome.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:01, Reply)
Gravity now.
I think we've LOST her!
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:03, Reply)
I'm going to be different
and say that Gravity and Jeep Song are my favourites. 672 can fuck off though.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:03, Reply)
I remember singing the Jeep Song in Music.
I do find it drags a bit though.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:05, Reply)
I just like the narrative
as I know exactly how that feels.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:07, Reply)
I relate more to the Perfect Fit, to be honest.
(I think you'd be a bit creeped out if i'd said "Missed Me"... :P)
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:08, Reply)
Bit old to be a Lolita type now, I think...

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:13, Reply)
Thank fuck!
That song is creepy.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:14, Reply)
Sad face.
It'd be a great song to do a strip-tease to, though.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:14, Reply)
As long as the bloke didn't listen to the lyrics, sure!

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:17, Reply)
But... I miss my mister so :(

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:19, Reply)
Yeah, but the bit about threatening to send him to prison
because he's a paedophile and stuff? Not sexy.
(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:23, Reply)
^THIS OH MY GOD THIS

(, Fri 14 Jan 2011, 0:24, Reply)
Me too, considering she was a fan.
It must be a dream come true. I LOVED Sandman.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:49, Reply)
He's written the 3rd episode of Doctor Who.
No idea what it'll entail but I'm so so so excited.

I need to buy the rest of the Sandman, I think I have up to volume 7. Read it all, though. Cried like a baby, and of course got angry with Lyta for causing the whole kerfuffle. They're thinking of making it into a TV series... EEEEEEE
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:50, Reply)
Hmm, I guess it's too long for a film...
Hope tv doesn't ruin it.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:52, Reply)
Oh, god NO
they're going to totally balls it up. I wept like a tiny child for good portions of that series, and I was inconsolable at the end of the last one.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:54, Reply)
What Roota said, though
At least they're not going to cram it all into 2 hours or so. Apparently it's teh people behind Supernatural, but I've never seen it, so can't say how good they are.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:56, Reply)
Well I don't know the Sandman very well
only read a few volumes of it, but Supernatural is fantastic
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:57, Reply)
I love the way all the characters connect
And I love Death. Death is fantastic.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:59, Reply)
They did a reunion tour
but thus far only american dates I'm afraid. I've met her (very briefly) and she was lovely.
(, Thu 13 Jan 2011, 23:48, Reply)
In Manchester she thanked everyone for coming to see them even though Morrisey was playing the same night
and then did I Know It's Over.
Then our coach broke down and I had to try and unite the Dresden Dolls/Morrissey/Take That fans, all trying to get back to Liverpool and stuck at a Manchester crossroads.
