a mentally disabled guy is given drugs to "cure" his conditionand at first he becomes a bit brighter, then average, then bright, then super-bright. then it all goes horribly wrong as he degenerates massively at high speed.
however, the drugs were tested first on a mouse called algernon, so he can predict what is going to happen to him by watching the mouse. as my dad would say, "there's nowt to laugh at at all".
