I ski. I play a bit of five-a-side. I mountain bike. Training-wise, I cardio-box and have fairly short weights routine these days, about 3 times a week.
By Monty's logic, I'm therefore so bent I must be straight again.

I don't want to have to talk to some fitness moron to find out what I should be doing though.

watch what they do. Then do it, but holding dumbells. Just not too heavy, it's not meant to be a hard weights routine and more than 5-10kg in each hand and you won't be able to move your hands fast enough.
Try and get a routine that has kicks and dodges as well as punches, it's great for core stability.

I will look into this. It occurs to me that the core stability aspect can only benefit my surfing, which is ultimately what drives most things that I do.

There's a game called fitness evolved that has it.

indoor hockey is played with a normal ball, just a thinner than average stick and you can't hit the ball, only push or flick it, and it musn't leave the floor except in the act of shooting, and you can fire it off the walls like 5-a-side footy.
It is so, so fast. I've played hockey for 20 years and I struggle with the pace of it, so sucking is hardly a thing to be worried about.

part of my clubs National/Regional Indoor squad. I say allegedly, as I turned up once when they were a bit short, touched the ball 5 times in about 7 minutes, scored 4 times from those five touches and was still by several orders of magnitude the worst player on the pitch.
It's a mental game.

Last time we played they told me I was ruining the formation (i'm new to the team) so I sat out the second half. we then lost 14 - 3. So I didn't feel so bad for 'ruining the formation'.
