Evening natter
I suspect everyone has gone to bed but I'll bung this up especially for Jeff.
What are your plans for this week? And how do they differ from whatever you'd rather be doing?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:23, 62 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Evening berk.
Fancy seeing you here!

How are you?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:24, Reply)
I'm alright
planning my holiday. Well...planning a holiday I'd like to take but probably won't.

How're you?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:26, Reply)
Link me to your chosen route!

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:27, Reply)
There is no link
The plan is to fly in to Dubrovnik and out of Split, seeing a bunch of stuff on the way.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:30, Reply)
Go careful in Croatia.
All the male tennis players there are witches.

For example. Goran. Even-he's-a-witch.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:32, Reply)
I do not watch tennis
I will however assume that this is some awful pun.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:33, Reply)
Shame.

Punnage
what a surprise.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:36, Reply)
It was a good one though.

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:37, Reply)
Clever-ish
but rather too obscure. Rugby is more or less the only sport I watch because it's violent. And I like cricket because it's so old fashioned. Tennis, football etc I don't really watch at all.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:44, Reply)
What other sports do you like?
Even if you don't watch them.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:49, Reply)
To play or watch?
To play I only really like tennis and rugby. And maybe cricket. To watch, I'll generally watch England/UK if people drag me down the pub or whatever, and I quite like both the summer and winter olympics when they're on, but I don't really care for televised sport unless it's rugby.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:54, Reply)
Did you play league or union?

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:56, Reply)
?!
union, of course. League is a silly game.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:57, Reply)
Correct answer.
What position did you play?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:07, Reply)
Front row
hooker for preference. I'm too small to play there now and not fast enough to be a winger.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:08, Reply)
I always played on the wing (back in my youth)
I don't miss playing oddly enough, certainly when I got ill, any chance of playing sport went out of the window.

Would you play again?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:14, Reply)
I wouldn't rule it out
I loved playing but it's hard to drag yourself out to train several times a week in cold/shit weather. Plus I'm not sure contact sports, piercings and gastric bands necessarily mix that well.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:17, Reply)
That doesn't sound like a great condition to be playing in.
But is there any coaching you can do? There must be teams who are crying out for front row coaching?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:20, Reply)
I'd be no good at coaching
I was never good enough to fully understand all the technique and rules and stuff, I just enjoyed the game and the camaraderie.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:22, Reply)
Seeing Skunk Anansie on Friday!
Also payday tomorrow. Woo!
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:27, Reply)
Weak as I am!
At least that has got achey-breaky-heart out of my head.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:29, Reply)
I think that's my favourite song of theirs
That or Charlie Big Potato.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:31, Reply)
They were very good at Sonisphere
Skin is one crazy mofo though. How was Club Tron?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:29, Reply)
Didn't go in the end
Was off work ill on Friday, and didn't feel up to going.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:31, Reply)
Oh :(
better now though I hope?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:32, Reply)
Not 100%
But definitely better!
Edit: And now I'm off to bed, night all!
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:33, Reply)
Good good
I've been semi-coming-down with something all week, but I think I've gotten rid of it. I think.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:35, Reply)
The knowing you're coming down with something is often worse than actually being 'ill'

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:36, Reply)
It's the pre-cold itchy ear that annoys me
and waking up with a really sore throat. But I would say being ill is probably worse..
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:45, Reply)
But at least if you're ill, you know you'll be on the road to recovery in no time.
The 'am I going to be ill or not' thing is a pain.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:50, Reply)
Got some work
not sure what else really. Nothing much planned
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:33, Reply)
I would ask if you want to come to Croatia, that'd be something to plan
but you are an impoverished student and will have finals to revise for and stuff.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:34, Reply)
sadly this is all true
though I am still determined to make it away for at least one weekend
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:36, Reply)
Not that I wouldn't want you to come if you could
but I wouldn't want a 2ii on my conscience! :)
where were you thinking of going away?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:40, Reply)
don't make me feel bad :P
a 2.ii isn't the end of the world, is it? is it? *words fade into the distance*

I was thinking Prague, Scotland or Venice
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:42, Reply)
*makes wibbly hand gesture*
if you want to do a law conversion you'll need a 2i.

I have been to all three of those. Gaz me up if you want ideas.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:43, Reply)
I went to Prague last year and it was really expensive for what it was.

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:47, Reply)
Did you think so?
I went...hmm...December 2008 and it was considerably cheaper than Vienna and Munich, which I also visited on the same trip.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:49, Reply)
Granted, most of my time there last year was spent drinking.
Having already spent a week there as a tourist many many years back. But I found that meals, drinks, and cabs were quite prices.

But that is gauged against what I spent there before.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:52, Reply)
I was on a budget
and thus found eateries and bars appropriate to what I could spend. Amsterdam was probably the most expensive place I've been for food and drink. Apart from Reykjavik, anyway.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:55, Reply)
How expensive was Reykjavik?
Copenhagen I found REALLY pricey,
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:57, Reply)
Basically, if we'd gone before the Icelandic economy hit the shitter
well, basically we couldn't have afforded to. It was London prices but not horrific, all in for three days (flights, travel, hotel, spending money etc) was about £350 I reckon. Copenhagen is meant to be mega expensive - shame as it looks very pretty.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:59, Reply)
The problem with Copenhagen
Is the cost. Everything is so expensive, you tend to forget how nice things are there, your memory is 'fucking hell, a JD and coke cost me twelve quid' and 'that average pizza cost me twenty quid'

That take a lot out of the trip.

I took the ex there for 3 days and inclusing (budget) flights and hotel, I reckon the whole thing cost me close to a grand. But that was 'being a tourist' going to Tivoli and all that jazz.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:07, Reply)
Yes, that sounds like something I would strenuously object to...
shame. I'd like to visit - perhaps I'll just have to save up and take a load of sandwiches or something.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:10, Reply)
Amberl
Wednesday Amberl. It all happens on Wednesday.

You know what happens on the second don't you?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:38, Reply)
I do indeed
I'll catch it on bbciplayer since I don't have a TV
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:42, Reply)
The trailers look good.
Single-sex lessons and people being sent to the Cooler.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:44, Reply)
I can't wait
I don't care how sad this makes me
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:50, Reply)
And fingers crossed, no one else has a clue what we're on about.
Maintaining dignity and OT-standing* is VERY important!

*Yours. I have none.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:53, Reply)
pfft I have no standing

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:58, Reply)
What are you both on about?

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:55, Reply)
Nothing, nothing at all

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:58, Reply)
*high fives!*

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:58, Reply)
*taps nose*
It's a SECRET.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 0:58, Reply)
I'm guessing it's not gypsy wedding
as that is on ch4, not bbc...
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:03, Reply)
Yes.
It really is shameful
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:08, Reply)
Waterloo Road?

(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:11, Reply)
Weeps.
She's onto us Amberl, She. is. On. To. Us

I wouldn't me, but it's shit. It's no more than a soap opera. But for some reason, like Hotel Babylon, I enjoy watching it.

WHY BERK? WHY?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:13, Reply)
I'm not judging
I used to watch Lexx for fuck's sake. Alright, I was half crazed with insomnia at the time, but it's still abysmal telly. Is Waterloo Road just Eastenders but better, then?
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:15, Reply)
I don't know if it's better than Eastenders
I don't watch it, but there is just enough of it to keep me amused.

Once a week, and I'll follow it. Amberl will tell you if it's worth getting involved with.
(, Mon 31 Jan 2011, 1:19, Reply)
Top Gear and Being Human
with the occasional dose of QI and Buzzcocks is really all the tv I want or need. Seeing as the first two are only on a couple of months of the year, that's really not much tv at all.
