I'm a non driver, and it's very very rare I would travel far for ingredients.There are amazing turkish places near me, I got some aspagoose that is really thick at home, and a nice looking artychoke. If I'm at a place, like the amazing butchers and fishmongers and greengrossers in Cockfosters, I'll get stuff. But I wouldn't make a trip down there _just_ for that.
