It's essentially just natural yoghurt and mint
So I don't think it should be bitter really. Maybe it was off?

isn't yogurt naturally a bit bitter and/or sour tasting?

I don't know
I'm eating pizza, I'm finding it hard to visualise other foods at the moment.

If I was making at home I'd use, in order of proportion, diced as tiny as you can get it apart from the yoghurt which is a cunt to dice:
low-fat natural yoghurt
cucumber
red onion
tomato
green chili
mint
sugar
salt and pepper

Noel has spoken and saved my woeful lack of food knowledge
To me, raita will always come in a little plastic tub.

Get you, with your "cookery skills"
I can do wonders with eggs, and heat things up, and that's it.

I've depended on myself since 1993.
Cooking is just one of those things that comes naturally, if chopping things into tiny bits and throwing them in yoghurt can be counted as cooking.
