Don't dismiss the distractions too readily. Obviously the problems doing your head in remains real, but if all you can do is worry about them then that could be just as dangerous as temporarily distracting yourself from them. Sure, being distracted won't solve them, but it may lift your spirits a little, whereas wallowing in how dreadful everything is may eventually send you mad, especially if you've got to wait for other things to happen before you can fix them. There's a time for action, but there's also a time to give your brain a little respite.
