I've been trying to buy them having only read one, but they're about seventy pounds apiece and tend to have been stolen from most libraries

Which antonia forest books?

Marlow family books
I've been searching, but I'm not willing to pay twenty pounds for the most recent reprint, or eighty pounds for the 1970 version. I'm too poor for that

May wish to trawl this site.
www.abebooks.co.uk/servlet/SearchResults?an=antonia+forest&bi=0&bx=off&ds=30&n=200000169&recentlyadded=all&sortby=17&x=56&y=9

knowing book titles will help and not worrying aboiut time scale or condition.

Yeah had a good look
sadly the way I work with books is an unwillingness to buy modern (unauthorised) editions especially for inflated prices. I'd pay a fiver for the newer editions, (and could get Autumn Term for that) but the rest are beyond my price-range.

I always think more on the lines of getting a readable copy immediately and saving for a desirable.
