It wasn't.he was convinced I wasn't enjoying myself and was being a bit weird, so I gently questioned him about it, he took offence, I tried to calm him down but in fact made the situation worse and it just escalated in to silliness.
I very much wanted to explain to him why he was being a total pranny but didn't think it would help.
