I think, and I might be wrong on this.But I *think*, that the British government of the time was opposed to expansion West and this caused one of the contentions that led to the war of independence. it's quite possible that things could have been very different over there had they not gone Stag. Mexico would be bigger, richer and more powerful for a start.

InterestingI did not know any of that, and am happy to assume you are correct; it certainly sounds logical, as the British government would have had enormous trouble controlling an expanded America
