I presume your funding has come to an end, if you're postdoc-ing
I will be in the exact same situation come 30th september. Monty's megabash is the very next day, so I shall save up whilst I'm still getting paid and drink myself in to a sullen stupor.

My mother has just done that
on the basis that my stepdad's retired and has just got a lumpsum they can live off for a while. I thought it was a bit bloody stupid tbh - but if he really has quit at least you guys can move in together?

and then we're both going a-hunting for a place together, yup.
I'll just be looking to go straight from one job to the next because I'm a pauper.
