With the number of applicants for each job advertised running at 'lots' it probably doesn't make sense for companies to acknowledge receipt.What were the specific jobs you went for?

One was a PAone was a copywriter, one 'team leader', and one project co-ordinator.
The next one is a marketing copywriter for the local college.
