Speaking as a bass player (hindered by limp wrists or otherwise)I can confirm that he is phenomenally overrated.
I studied and admired his playing when I was about 15. This was before I had the all-important epiphany that slap bass actually sounds fucking horrible and, even if you will insist on slapping the thing, there are people out there who are leagues ahead of him in terms of technique, ability and not looking like an overgrown, gurning spastic.
