It was the consultant in A&E who suggested the CQC. Will try PALS also if that is appropriate.
Nobody expects the NHS to treat them like royalty, but the A&E bed policy is 4 hours not 9 and the place for an ill mother with a five week old baby is the post natal ward.

Good job those nice Tories are scrapping those needless time targets

Shit happens all the time, a nine hour wait in A&E is a common occurance irrespective of their guidelines.
If an A&E consultant suggested the CQC as the first stop for a routine file and bin complaint then he's got an axe to grind and enjoys having peoples time wasted no end. What a prick. There's a hospital complaints procedure for a reason, escalating it beyond that is fucking irksome. www.imperial.nhs.uk/patients/complaints/

So, are you telling me that if your wife (if you have one?) and your five week old daughter (if you have kids?) were left in A&E for nine hours, where (as Chompy correctly says) there is clinical and child protection risk (and you are not allowed to take the baby away from the mother) you'd be happy to ignore the advice given about how to complain?

Why would you bother responding to him?
Just ignore him, it's words on the internet, you know they're doing it to get a rise out of you.

I'm not rising Al - it's pretty clear from everyone's responses who is being reasonable...

ooh, ohh, let me guess...
it's Rory, isn't it? Rory. That's my answer.

No? Shit.

Having a child in A&E for 9 hours is stupid, there are many things stupid with the nhs, that is a part of life
Running off in tears to the CQC is fucking pathetic where there's a complaints guideline in place.

The staff would not allow me to take my baby away from her mother.
